Tony Award winner Laura Benanti — who currently stars in Sarah Ruhl's In the Next Room, or the vibrator play — has been added to Barbara Cook's Spotlight series at the Kennedy Center.

Benanti replaces the previously-announced stars Daniel Evans and Jenna Russell (Sunday in the Park with George) on the schedule. The concert plays April 30, 2010, at 7:30 PM in the Terrace Theater.

The cabaret performance series, which highlights some of Broadway's favorite performers as curated by Barbara Cook, will next present Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole (Nov. 14), Karen Akers (Dec. 12), and Jessica Molaskey and John Pizzarelli (June 4, 2010).

A Tony winner for her turn in the recent revival of Gypsy, Benanti has also been nominated for her Broadway turns in Swing! and Into the Woods. Other credits include The Wedding Singer, Nine, The Sound of Music and Why Torture Is Wrong, and the People Who Love Them as well as the film "Take the Lead" and television's "Eli Stone."

Tickets go on sale Feb. 10, 2010 to the public (Feb. 1 to members). For more information, visit Kennedy-Center.org.
