Town Hall to Welcome Brian Stokes Mitchell and Broadway by the Year in 2010

Tony Award winner Brian Stokes Mitchell, Judy Collins and the 10th anniversary season of the hit series Broadway by the Year will be seen at New York City's The Town Hall in 2010.

"I am very proud to announce our new season for 2010," artistic and executive director Lawrence Zucker said in a released statement. "I am also thrilled to be celebrating Broadway by the Year’s 10th anniversary with four great concerts culminating in a celebration of the last 20 years of Broadway music."

The series — created, written and hosted by Scott Siegel — focuses on the shows that appeared on Broadway in one specific year. The four concerts will feature the works of 1927, 1948 and 1966. For the final concert (1990-2010), an all-star cast will perform one song from each of the last 21 years of Broadway history.

Here are some 2010 events of note to theatre folk:

  • Feb. 19 – Capitol Steps
  • Feb. 22 – Broadway by the Year: 1927
    (with songs from Show Boat, Rio Rita, Hit the Deck!, Ziegfeld Follies of 1927, Good News and more)
  • March 5 – Judy Collins in Concert
  • March 22 – Broadway by the Year: 1948
    (with songs from Kiss Me, Kate; Love Life; Where's Charley?' My Romance' Lend an Ear; and more)
  • April 17 – Brian Stokes Mitchell in Concert
  • May 10 – Broadway by the Year: 1966
    (with songs from Sweet Charity, Mame, Cabaret, I Do! I Do!, The Apple Tree and more)
  • June 14 – Broadway by the Year: 1966: 1990-2010
    (with songs from Aspects of Love, Falsettos, Kiss of the Spider Woman, Ragtime, Wicked, Jersey Boys and many more)
