Simpson-Wentz will begin performances at Broadway's Ambassador Theatre Nov. 30. She will play a limited engagement as the merry murderess through Feb. 7, 2010.
"I'm honored to be reprising my role as Roxie Hart, returning to the stage and joining this amazing cast," said Simpson-Wentz in a statement. "Being on Broadway is a childhood dream come true."
Simpson-Wentz's albums include "Autobiography," "I Am Me" and "Bittersweet World." Her TV appearances include "Malcolm in the Middle," "Saved by the Bell," and a recurring role for two years on the WB's "7th Heaven." The singer-actress also starred in MTV's "The Ashlee Simpson Show."
Chicago won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical in 1997 as well as awards for actors Bebe Neuwirth and James Naughton, director Walter Bobbie, lighting designer Ken Billington and choreographer Ann Reinking. The original production was directed and choreographed by the late Bob Fosse.
