| Tony Yazbeck |
| Full given name: | Anthony David Yazbeck |
| Hometown: | Orlando, FL |
| Zodiac sign: | Pisces |
| Audition song: | "Someone to Watch Over Me" |
| Special skills: | Tap Dancing, Skydiving, Skiing, yo-yo |
| First Broadway show ever saw: | Gypsy w/Tyne Daly |
| If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? | The original Sunday in the Park with George (even though the revival was pretty amazing!) |
| Current show you have been recommending to friends: | Hair (and I just saw In the Heights which was simply brilliant). |
| Favorite showtune: | There are so many..."Marry Me A Little"..."My Heart is So Full of You"..."Some Other Time"..."At the Ballet"..."Lonely Town"..."This Nearly Was Mine"..."Move On"...and just about anything from Gypsy and West Side Story. |
| Last book you read: | "Wild at Heart" by John Eldredge |
| Must-see TV show: | "The Office" |
| Last good movie you saw: | "Adam" |
| Favorite board game: | Chess |
| Performer you would drop everything to go see: | Martin Sexton...Tony Bennett...Third Day...Alison Krauss...U2...my fiancée Jessica Lee Goldyn |
| Pop culture guilty pleasure: | My iPod touch |
| First stage kiss: | Actually my first stage kiss was really my first kiss...Funny story...I was 12...When I played a newsboy in the Tyne Daly Gypsy during the overture, the Baby June (Susan Cremin) and I kissed behind the curtain leg stage left. I will never forget that. She and I still have a good laugh about it to this day. |
| Favorite pre-/post-show meal: | Two places I love are Room Service (Spicy Basil Noodles with Chicken) before a show and Becco (just about anything there is amazing) for an Italian meal after a show. |
| How you got your Equity card: | Gypsy with Tyne Daly. I was 11 years old. I auditioned on the St. James stage and was immediately brought down to the basement and told I had the job and that I would be starting in 3 days!! |
| Worst flubbed line/missed cue/onstage mishap: | This summer, Jessica and I did a production of Crazy For You together at Maine State Music Theatre and during a scene in the second act when I reveal who I am to her after reading this letter, the lights went out randomly and then came back on and I just commented "Well that was interesting...Its a magic letter," which got a great laugh and then soon after I made a face at Jessica for some reason and she broke and then the actor playing Zangler and I broke and it seemed at that moment the audience and the actors were playing together and we had live theatre at its finest!! |
| Worst costume ever: | Ok, I was a Disney Kids of the Kingdom dancer when I was 19. I wore this silver unitard and big silver cone on my head in the Galaxy Search show in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom. I have a teacher who still has a video recording of it and he better not show it to anyone! |
| Pet's name: | Madeline is our cat |
| Favorite junk food: | French fries and ketchup |
| Worst job you ever had: | In high school I worked on a farm from 6 in the morning till the sun went down and learned what hard labor was about...of course I learned a lot, so it wasn't too bad looking back. |
| TV or commercial gig you most enjoyed: | For the PBS South Pacific Concert, I will never forget watching Brian Stokes Mitchell sing "This Nearly Was Mine" from the Carnegie Hall stage. I felt so blessed to be up there witnessing that! |
| Leading man role you've been dying to play: | I want to originate something Gene Kelly-esque that hasn't been written yet that I can pour my soul into. |
