LATW Announces Casting for Crumbs from the Table of Joy

Tinashe Kajese has joined the cast of the L.A. Theatreworks production of Lynn Nottage's coming-of-age story Crumbs from the Table of Joy.

Seret Scott directs the limited engagement that will run Dec. 9-13 at the Skirball Cultural Center. As with all LATW productions, the production will be recorded and broadcast on LATW's nationally syndicated radio theatre series, "The Play's the Thing."

Kajese (Victory) joins previously announced cast members Charlayne Woodard (The Night Watcher), Russell Hornsby (Seven Guitars) and Deidrie Henry (Coming Home, Yellowman).

"In Crumbs from the Table of Joy, the Crump family is in trouble. Godfrey is widowed and adrift, and his teen daughters, Ernestine and Ermina, have immersed themselves in glamorous illusions of Hollywood to escape the racial prejudice of 1950s Brooklyn. But things change quickly when free-spirited Aunt Lily shows up. Suddenly, Godfrey remarries a white woman, Ermina discovers boys, and Ernestine is torn between embracing bebop and the Communist Party," press notes state.
