Television and stage actress Sharon Gless will star in the world premiere of Jane Prowse's A Round-Heeled Woman: My Late-Life Adventures in Sex and Romance, about a woman in her sixties who indulges her passions.

Inspired by a memoir by Jane Juska, the play will run Jan. 5-Feb. 7, 2010, at Theater Artaud in San Francisco in a production by Z Space Studio. Opening is Jan. 16 at 8 PM.

One of her co-stars in the production is Stephen Macht, who spent three seasons (1985-88) in the recurring role of David Keeler, a love interest to Gless' Chris Lacey on TV's "Cagney & Lacey." He'll play one of her lovers in the play.

The cast of A Round-Heeled Woman also includes Stacy Ross, Ray Reinhart, Ian Scott McGregor and Anne Darragh.

According to production notes, "A Round-Heeled Woman follows the real-life adventures of Jane Juska when she courageously decides, at 66 years old, to place a personal ad in The New York Review of Books, that reads, 'Before I turn 67, next March, I would like to have a lot of sex with a man I like. If you want to talk first, Trollope works for me.'

"Juska then sets off on a series of amorous adventures that include — in addition to a lot of sex — falling in love, enduring heartbreak, humiliation, rejection, and having her first orgasm with a man after 30 years."

Macht starred as Proctor in The Crucible, Orsino in Twelfth Night and Dunois in Saint Joan at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Canada, where he was scouted and signed by Universal Television to come to Hollywood to begin his film career.

Gless is a multiple Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actress. She most recently completed production on two independent features, "Once Fallen," with Ed Harris and Amy Madigan, and "Hannah Free," in which Gless stars in the title role. Gless is currently featured as Madeline Westen on "Burn Notice" (USA Network). Gless starred as Debbie Novotny in the groundbreaking Showtime series "Queer as Folk," from 2000-2005. The following year she starred as U.S. Secretary of Defense Lynne Warner in the BBC/BBC America miniseries "The State Within."

Z Space @ Theater Artaud is at 450 Florida Street, San Francisco, CA.
