The rock band Green Day is currently in the studio recording a new version of their hit single "21 Guns." That song is the second single from Green Day's gold album "21st Century Breakdown."

The group is joined on the new recording by the cast of American Idiot, the stage version of the Green Day album that recently played an acclaimed run at Berkeley Rep.

Green Day singer and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong is producing the single, which will be available through all digital retailers within the next few weeks. A video of "21 Guns" will be filmed, also with the American Idiot company.

Green Day also features bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool. American Idiot was staged by Tony Award-winning director Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening), who collaborated with Armstrong on the story.
