Linda Marlowe is to bring The World's Wife, a stage version of the poems of Carol Ann Duffy, to London's Trafalgar Studios 2, beginning performances Jan. 11, 2010, prior to an official opening Jan. 13, for a run through Feb. 6.

The show, which Marlowe first performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2009 followed by an extensive U.K. national tour, imagines the perspectives of the wives of famous men through the ages, while casting an astute glance over the modern world. According to press materials, the verse cuts through boundaries between factual and fictional women to get under the skin of the women "behind" great men, from Mrs. Faust and Frau Freud to Queen Kong and Mrs. Midas.

Marlowe is well-known for her previous solo work, which includes Berkoff's Women and No Fear!, both of which were seen as part of the Brits Off Broadway Festival at 59E59 Theaters in 2004. She has worked extensively with Berkoff over a 25-year-period, playing leading ladies in such productions of his as Metamorphosis, Decadence, The Trial, Hamlet, Greek and Coriolanus.

Duffy is a multi-award winning poet, playwright and freelance writer. She is professor of contemporary poetry at Manchester's Metropolitan University, and in May 2009 as appointed Britain's poet laureate.
