The 52nd Street Project will inaugurate its permanent midtown Manhattan home, the Five Angels Theater, with All Good Things: The Patient Plays Dec. 11-13.
Willie Reale, who penned lyrics to A Year with Frog and Toad and additional material for the latest incarnation of Dreamgirls, founded the 52nd Street Project in 1981 to improve the quality of life for New York's inner-city children who live in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. Through programs and partnerships with theatre professionals, the 52nd Street Project reaches out to local children by creating theatrical projects tailored to their experiences.
All Good Things is the result of a nine-week playwrighting intensive, where young participants were paired with theatre professionals to develop their short works.
The young authors include Adnan Ahmed, Carlos Breton, Cassidy Capstick, Nicholas Carrero, Leah Kiara Macuilt, Asia Hoa Rosado, Edison Rafael Sibri, Britney Trinidad and Miguelangel Vazquez.
Professional theatre artists participating include Mia Barron, Lisa Benavides, Kenajuan Bentley, Elizabeth Canavan, Aya Cash, Joel de la Fuente, Carson Elrod, Saidah Arrika Ekulona, Peter Jay Fernandez, Will Harper, Sue Jean Kim, Krystel Lucas, Bruce MacVittie, Alexis McGuinness, Joe Paulik, Myra Lucretia Taylor, Christopher Evan Welch and Joe White.
Directing the one-acts will be Emilio Delgado, Kate Forbes, Kel Haney, Taibi Magar, Davis McCallum, Rick Meese, Tlaloc Rivas, Erica Schmidt and John Sheehy.
Admission to All Good Things is free, but reservations are required. Phone (212) 642-5052 for reservations. The Five Angels Theater is located at 789 Tenth Avenue, 2nd floor in Manhattan.
