Lansbury Named Honorary Chairwoman for Non-Profit Career Transition for Dancers

Tony Award winner Angela Lansbury — who currently stars in the new Broadway revival of A Little Night Music — has been appointed the new honorary chairwoman for Career Transition for Dancers.

CTFD announced the appointment of Lansbury along with Anka K. Palitz as the vice president of fundraising and Judith Anderson as the vice president of programs. New board members are Gayle Conran and Ann Van Ness.

Five-time Tony winner Lansbury is known for her work on television's "Murder, She Wrote" as well as her stage career. The actress earned Tony wins for her work in Blithe Spirit, Mame, Dear World, Gypsy and Sweeney Todd. She was also nominated for Deuce.

In A Little Night Music, Lansbury takes on the role of Madame Armfeldt opposite Catherine Zeta-Jones as her daughter, Desirée Armfeldt. The revival of the Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler musical plays at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre.

The not-for-profit organization "enables dancers to define their career possibilities and develop the skills necessary to excel in a variety of disciplines" according to the company's mission. CTFD also provides dancers with specialized services that include transition seminars and workshops, peer support groups, resource centers, a toll-free national career counseling hotline, a website, and a National Career Network.
