Starry Chicago Christmas Carol Canceled

The limited engagement of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol that was scheduled to play Chicago's Civic Opera House in December has been canceled.



A press statement said, "The producers of A Christmas Carol regret to announce that the engagement at the Civic Opera House has been cancelled. The full ticket price and convenience charge (if applicable), will be automatically refunded to your credit card. If you purchased your tickets with cash, please return to the box office with your tickets for a refund."

F. Murray Abraham, James Garner, Wayne Knight and George Wendt were scheduled to star. Timothy Hutton and Stockard Channing had previously withdrawn from the cast.

The tale of miserly Ebenezer Scrooge and his visit from the three Ghosts of Christmas had been scheduled to play the Chicago venue Dec. 22-27.

The production team included producer, adapter and director Kevin Von Feldt. The design team included Jeff Hill (sets); Nancy Erickson Dutmer (costumes and choreography); David Neville (lighting); and Maureen Osborne (props).
