The devices, which patrons can rent from the theatre for a fee, connect to a wireless network and are operated using the touch screen. The user is able to select his/her preferred language by pressing the corresponding language icon from the menu, and before the show begins there is an option to read the programme in the chosen language. Subtitles are then displayed automatically on the user's screen.

The system is operated by a technician located in the theatre who co-ordinates the translation script with the performance, thus allowing for audience reactions or pauses in the show. The operator follows the script in the original language of the show and co-ordinates the sending of pre-saved subtitles to each individual device. This means that when the signal is sent from a main computer, each device will simultaneously display the script in the previously selected language.
