Veteran Tony-winning actor Hal Holbrook will bring his acclaimed solo evening Mark Twain Tonight! to the University of Hartford's Lincoln Theatre in 2010.

Hartford Stage, The Mark Twain House & Museum and The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., are presenting the Jan. 23, 2010, event that marks the centennial of Twain's death, the 175th anniversary of his birth, and the 125th anniversary of the publication of "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn."

The 7:30 PM performance features Holbrook reprising the role that launched his career at the age of 34. The one-night-only evening finds Holbrook embodying Twain in a series of selections from the novelist and humorist's career.

While there is no set order for Mark Twain Tonight!, the evening will likely include highlights from "Roughing It," "A Tramp Abroad," "Letters From the Earth," "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," "Life on the Mississippi" and "Innocents Abroad."

Hartford Stage artistic director Michael Wilson offered the following statement: "All of us at Hartford Stage are thrilled to be partnering with The Hartford and The Mark Twain House & Museum on these exciting celebratory events. We look forward to welcoming Hal Holbrook back to Hartford to revisit one of the great roles of his spectacular career, and are most grateful for The Hartford's sponsorship of our upcoming world premiere of Twain's classic 'The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.' Laura Eason's vibrant new adaptation will introduce another generation to the magic of Twain's genius."

Holbrook earned the 1966 Best Actor Tony Award for Mark Twain Tonight!, a role he repeated on Broadway in 1977 and in 2005. He made his Broadway debut in Do You Know the Milky Way? and has appeared in After the Fall, Marco Millions, Incident at Vichy, Tartuffe, The Glass Menagerie, Man of La Mancha, The Apple Tree, I Never Sang for My Father, Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? and An American Daughter. His screen credits include "The Sopranos," "Into the Wild," "The West Wing," "Designing Women," "All the President's Men," "Julia," "Wall Street," "The Firm," "Men of Honor" and "The Majestic."
