Off-Broadway's Primary Stages has announced works by A. R. Gurney, Jonathan Tolins and a world premiere musical by Kristen Anderson-Lopez, James-Allen Ford, Russell M. Kaplan and Sara Wordsworth for its upcoming 2010-11 season.

Tolins' new dramatic comedy Secrets of the Trade, will open the season (July 27-Sept. 4, 2010). Matt Shakman directs the work centering on "Andy Lipman, a smart, ambitious kid from Long Island, dreams of a career on Broadway and hopes that his idol, theater legend Martin Kerner, can give it to him," according to the announcement. "Will Kerner open Andy‟s door to success, or will their complicated relationship force him to question a life in the theater?"

Kristen Anderson-Lopez, James-Allen Ford, Russell M. Kaplan and Sara Wordsworth team on the new musical In Transit (Sept. 21-Oct. 30, 2010). Joe Calarco will stage the work in which "seven performers take on multiple roles and create every note with their own voices." Inspired by the rhythms and sounds of life on the subway, In Transit "follows an aspiring actress, a fledgling financier, a street-savvy beatboxer, a cab driver, and others as they find their way in New York City."

Gurney will conclude the season with the new comedy Black Tie (Jan. 25-March 5, 2011). Mark Lamos directs the world premiere that focuses on "Father of the groom, Curtis, [who] simply wants to make a memorable toast. But before he is able to raise his glass, he must defend the time-honored ways of his past, including his attire. Cultures clash when a surprise guest is announced, threatening to throw convention out the window. Curtis finds that balancing the standards of his late father and the needs of his future family may prove too messy for a black tie affair."

Primary Stages next presents the New York premiere of Lucinda Coxon's Happy Now? Jan. 26-March 6, 2010 at 59E59 Theaters. Liz Diamond will direct Kelly AuCoin, Kate Arrington, Macy Bacon, Brian Keane, Joan MacIntosh, Quentin Mare and CJ Wilson in the work presented in association with Yale Repertory Theatre.
