Tickets for the Broadway run of Million Dollar Quartet, which begins previews at the Nederlander Theatre March 13, 2010, go on sale Dec. 4.

The Memphis-set musical, which is currently playing a commercial run at Chicago's Apollo Theatre following a world premiere at the Goodman Theatre in the fall of 2008, will officially open at the Nederlander April 11, 2010. The Broadway production will be independent of the Chicago company, which will continue there. (The starter Goodman engagement was a rental arrangement with that not-for-profit venue.)

Director Eric Schaeffer will repeat his work on the Broadway production of Million Dollar Quartet, which features a book by Colin Escott and original director Floyd Mutrux. Musical director for the production is Chuck Mead.

Broadway casting will be announced at a later date.

According to Million Dollar Quartet production notes, "On December 4, 1956, an auspicious twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley together. The place was Sun Records' storefront studio in Memphis. The man who made it happen was Sam Phillips, the 'Father of Rock 'n' Roll,' who discovered them all. The four legends-to-be united for the only time in their careers for an impromptu recording that has come to be known as one of the greatest rock jam sessions of all time."

The musical includes a catalogue of songs including "Blue Suede Shoes," "Fever," "Sixteen Tons," "Who Do You Love?," "Great Balls of Fire," "Riders in the Sky," "I Walk the Line," "Folsom Prison Blues" and "Whole Lotta' Shakin' Goin' On."

The Broadway production will be produced by Relevant Theatricals, John Cossette Productions, Northern Lights Inc., Broadway Across America, and James L. Nederlander.
