"It's Complicated," "Up In the Air" and "Precious" Earn National Board of Review Awards

The National Board of Review has announced its 2009 film honorees, which will be awarded Jan. 12, 2010, at Cipriani’s 42nd St. in Manhattan.



"Up In the Air" was honored with Best Film, while Clint Eastwood received Best Director ("Invictus") and George Clooney ("Up In the Air"), Morgan Freeman ("Invictus") and Carey Mulligan ("An Education") earned Best Acting nods.

Best Supporting Actor went to Woody Harrelson ("The Messenger") and Best Supporting Actress to Anna Kendrick ("Up In the Air"). "It's Complicated," which includes Alec Baldwin, Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Rita Wilson, earned Best Ensemble Cast.

Breakthrough acting performance nods went to Jeremy Renner ("The Hurt Locker") and Gabourey Sidibe ("Precious"). Directorial debuts recognized were Duncan Jones ("Moon"), Oren Moverman ("The Messenger") and Marc Webb ("500 Days of Summer").

"A Prophet" took Best Foreign Language Film, "The Cove" earned Best Documentary and "Up" was awarded Best Animated Feature. Joel and Ethan Coen were honored with Best Original Screenplay for "A Serious Man," and Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner's "Up In the Air" took Best Adapted Screenplay.

The Ten Best Films of 2009 include "An Education," "500 Days Of Summer," "The Hurt Locker," "Inglourious Basterds," "Invictus," "The Messenger," "A Serious Man," "Star Trek," "Up" and "Where The Wild Things Are."
