Rachel Dratch, best known for her comedic work on "Saturday Night Live," will star in the George Street Playhouse's upcoming production of A. R. Gurney's Sylvia.
Dratch will portray Sylvia, the "stray dog that turns the life of two New York empty-nesters upside down," according to a press release.
Artistic director David Saint will helm the comedy, which is scheduled to run March 30-April 25, 2010, with an official opening April 2 at the New Jersey venue.
"I am so thrilled to be working with an actor with such comedic gifts," said director Saint in a statement. "In all her characterizations on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and in her work with Second City, Rachel has displayed a comic style that is the perfect fit for this show. I look forward to working with her and welcome her to George Street."
Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
