David Henry Hwang, Charles Fuller and Craig Lucas will guide emerging playwrights as part of Cherry Lane Theatre's 12th annual Mentor Project.

The project pairs three aspiring writers with accomplished playwrights who guide them through writing, workshops, rehearsals, production and performance throughout a theatre season. Each of the new plays will receive a showcase at the Cherry Lane in the spring.

Selected for the 2010 project are Ruth McKee (Stray), mentored by Tony winner David Henry Hwang (M. Butterfly, Yellow Face); Winter Miller (Paternity), mentored by Tony nominee Craig Lucas (The Light in the Piazza, Prelude to a Kiss); and Nate Rufus Edelman (The Belle of Belfast), mentored by Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Fuller (A Soldier's Play, Zooman and the Sign).

Playwrights who previously benefited from the Mentor Project include Rajiv Joseph, David Adjmi, Katori Hall, Sheila Callaghan, Jakob Holder, Deidre O'Connor, Colin McKenna, Allison Moore, Christopher Shinn and Sam Forman.
