Asolo Repertory Theatre's Searching for Eden, James Still's expansion of Mark Twain's 1893 humor writing about Adam and Eve, opens Dec. 18 and plays in rep to Feb. 25, 2010, at the Mertz Theatre, in Sarasota, FL.

Melissa Kievman directs the real-life acting couple Kris Danford and Sam Osheroff, who are also graduates of the FSU/Asolo Conservatory program and have performed with Asolo Rep.

The creative team includes set designer Scott Bradley (who has put a pond on stage), costume designer David Covach, lighting designer Dan Scully, sound designer Matthew Parker, wigs and hair designers Michelle Hart and stage manager Sarah Gleissner.

Here's how the Rep bills the play: "Searching for Eden is an enchanting new look at the Biblical story of Adam and Eve, who are born into Paradise as the first humans. They discover the primal emotions of what it is to be human, inventing love and language. After lasting through the collapse of their idyllic world and thousands of years of life together, Adam and Eve return to the place that was the Garden of Eden, now a resort called E, for a get-away from the hectic life of present day. They seek that same paradise hoping to revitalize their love for one another."

Still is the author of And Then They Came for Me and The Heavens Are Hung In Black. Previews played Dec. 16-17. For more information, call (941) 351-8000 or visit www.asolo.org.
