The world premiere of Robert Askins' Princes of Waco, the first in a Texas-set trilogy, will begin previews Off-Broadway at the Ensemble Studio Theatre Jan. 8, 2010.

Dylan McCullough will direct the production that officially opens Jan, 11, 2010, and will run through Jan. 30, 2010, at EST. Askins is a member of EST's Youngblood playwrights collective.

"I saw the play in Youngblood's Unfiltered Festival and I knew that Robert Askins has a voice that needed to be heard on our mainstage," said EST artistic director William Carden in a statement. "That voice is visceral and his characters are deep and complex, remarkable for a writer only 29 years old."

Princes of Waco will feature Evan Enderle (Dance Dance Revolution), Christine Farrell ("Law and Order"), Scott Sowers (Inherit the Wind, Streetcar Named Desire) and Megan Tusing (The Theory of Everything).

Press notes read: "In darkest Texas, an old man teaches a fatherless boy how to drink, fight and steal by a code. But when they love the same girl, that brings killing and dying into the picture. That's where the trouble starts. [Princes of Waco] is a fierce, viciously funny journey to a bloody, forgotten West."

The production will have set design by Maiko Chii, lighting design by Ji-Youn Chang, costume design by Danielle Schembre and sound design by Hillary Charnas.
