The Museum of the City of New York will celebrate Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater with a special discussion on Jan. 12, 2010.

Entitled "The Vivian Beaumont Theater: A Marvelous Compromise," the 6:30 PM discussion will feature Tony-winning South Pacific set designer Michael Yeargan, LCT executive producer Bernard Gersten and architect Hugh Hardy.

Hardy was intimately involved in the design of the unique venue that was designed by architects Eero Saarinen and Gordon Bunshaft, and Tony-winning set and lighting designer Jo Mielziner.

The evening promises an insider look at the creation of the flexible performance space that is currently home to the Tony-winning revival of South Pacific. Participants will also shed light on the challenges and opportunities of creating successful theatrical works at the Beaumont.

The discussion will take place at the Museum of the City of New York, located at 1220 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.
