Presented Jan. 19, 20 and 27 at the Frederick Loewe Room, Final Draft will present readings of three plays, one of which will be selected for a full production.
The winning playwright will also receive professional support from Broken Watch through dramaturgical aid, as well as meetings with agencies, producers and regional theatres.
"During this inaugural season of The Final Draft Production Series, as a selection committee we were extremely excited by the quality of the plays submitted. And with a general lack of opportunity for female playwrights I am doubly proud that all of this year's finalists are women. Although we did not set out to choose plays by women; they just happened to be the best ones we read," said selection committee chair Christopher Kyle in a statement.
The schedule is as follows: Look, we are breathing by Laura Jacqmin, directed by Michael Sexton (Jan. 19); Honey Brown Eyes by Stefanie Zadravec, directed by Martha Banta; and Rich Girl by Victoria Stewart, directed by In the Heights Tony nominee Thomas Kail (Jan. 27).
