Neil Patrick Harris Lands Another Hosting Gig

Stage and screen star Neil Patrick Harris, who will make his musical directorial debut this summer with the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Rent, will host The Academy of Magical Arts' 42nd Annual Awards Show.

Presented by The Academy of Magical Arts, Inc. and The Magic Castle, the annual event will be held April 11 at Avalon Hollywood in California.

The evening will begin at 5 PM with a cocktail reception followed by the 7 PM show. Performers for the awards program are set to include Yo Kato, Ed Alonzo, John Calvert, Andrew Goldenhersh, Armando Lucero, Jeff Hobson and The Great Tomsoni & Co.

Producers are Neil Patrick Harris and Matt Patton.

The awards show "celebrates the lavish world of mystery and illusion by gathering the top magicians from all over the world for one star-studded spectacular night."

Neil Patrick Harris has been seen on Broadway in Assassins, Cabaret and Proof. He appeared in the Geffen Playhouse's production of All My Sons as well as the L.A. company of Rent, the Reprise! production of Sweeney Todd and the London mounting of tick, tick . . . BOOM! His screen credits include the current "How I Met Your Mother" as well as "Undercover Brother," "Doogie Howser, M.D.," "Stark Raving Mad" and "Joan of Arc." Harris also hosted the 63rd Tony Awards and the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards.
