America's early history is set to a rock beat in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, a new emo rock musical at The Public Theater.

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson features music and lyrics by Michael Friedman and book by Alex Timbers, who also directs the piece.

The cast is lead by Benjamin Walker in the title role, along with River Aguirre, James Barry, Michael Crane, Michael Dunn, Greg Hildreth, Jeff Hiller, Lucas Near-Verbrugghe, Maria Elena Ramirez, Kate Cullen Roberts, Ben Steinfeld, Colleen Werthmann and Emily Young.

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson is billed as "A brash, hilarious indie rock musical about the country we live in and the leaders we choose. Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson audaciously redefines America's seventh president, the man who invented the Democratic Party and doubled the size of our nation, with a raucous blend of outrageous comedy, anarchic theatricality, and an infectious 'emo rock' score."
