There was talk that the drama, which stars Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson, might move to another theatre or possibly return, but producers announced in February that it would close on schedule after its 14 weeks (and 81 regular performances plus 30 previews) were up. Previews of Bridge, featuring direction by Gregory Mosher, began Dec. 28, 2009; opening night was Jan. 24.
Fences is the next tenant at the Cort. It begins April 14 toward an April 26 opening. Denzel Washington stars.
The Bridge cast also features Jessica Hecht, Michael Cristofer, Morgan Spector, Corey Stoll, Alex Cendese, Anthony DeSando, Antoinette LaVecchia, Matthew Montelongo, Mark Morettini, Joe Ricci, Robert Turano and Marco Verna.
In A View from the Bridge, Schreiber plays Eddie Carbone, a Brooklyn longshoreman obsessed with his 17-year-old niece Catherine, played by Johansson. When Catherine falls in love with a newly arrived immigrant, Eddie's jealousy erupts in a rage that consumes him, his family, and his world.
