On Sept. 26, 2009, Streisand took to the intimate stage of the Village Vanguard to offer close friends and fans an evening of songs from her new album "Love Is the Answer." The performance marked Streisand's first return to the nightclub scene in 48 years.
The DVD features introductions from Lorraine Gordon (widow of Vanguard owner Max Gordon) and Streisand's longtime manager Marty Erlichmnan. Also offering a few words is Rick Edelstein, a waiter at the Vanguard who originally arranged an audition for a teenage Streisand at the West Village nightclub.
During the show, Streisand revisited songs she performed live at the Bon Soir and on "The Tonight Show" in the early 1960's, including "Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most" and "Nobody's Heart (Belongs to Me)."
Seen in the audience are former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and their daughter Chelsea, as well as actresses Sarah Jessica Parker and Nicole Kidman.
Included on the disc is a bonus featurette about the Village Vanguard and its owner, Lorraine Gordon.
