Hartford Stage Completes 2010-2011 Season with Snow Falling on Cedars

Kevin McKeon's stage adaptation of Snow Falling on Cedars, the David Guterson novel exploring anti-Japanese sentiments in the post-World War II Northwest U.S., has been selected as the final production in the 2010-2011 season at Hartford Stage.

Hartford Stage has yet to determine dates or a creative team for the play which brings to life the story of a Japanese-American accused of murdering a local fisherman in a small fishing village off the coast of Washington state in 1954.

Associate artistic director Jeremy B. Cohen has also been named to direct the stage adaptation of The 39 Steps. Dates of production have not been announced.

As previously reported, the musical Sheila's Day, by Mbongeni Ngema, Ebony Jo-Ann, Duma Ndlovu and Ricardo Khan, will launch the season July 22-Aug. 15.

Also on the bill are the world premiere of Michael Kramer's Divine Rivalry, August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean and A Christmas Carol.

The SummerStage lineup includes Elaine Stritch Singin' Sondheim…One Song at a Time (June 17-20); Chita Rivera: My Broadway (June 22-27); and An Evening with Ben Vereen (July 6-11).
