Directed by Scott S. Anderson with choreography by Mic Thompson, performances are scheduled for June 7—Oct. 15.
James Royce Edwards, who has appeared on Broadway or in the national tours of Hairspray, Mamma Mia!, Pippin and All Shook Up, will star in the title role with Hairspray's Summer Broyhill as Jane. The cast will also feature Evan D'Angeles (Terk), Cessalee Stovall (Kala), Sam Zeller (Kerchak), Jerry Hoffman (Porter) and Todd Dubail (Clayton).
The ensemble comprises Talon Ackerman, Kile Allen, Eli Bauer, Giovanni Bonaventura, Erica Bryce, Jeremy Carpenter, Olin Davidson, Molly DePola, Craig Donnelly, Carolyn Hartvigsen, Zachary Hess, Tammie Rose Johnston, Payton Kemp, Tommy Martinez, Troy McGee, Nicholas McGough, Ryan Nickels, Kyli Rae, Robert Reep, Eddy Schumacher, Kierstyn Sharrow, Alexis Smith, Shellie Telford, Joey Tierno, Veronica Yeager and Lindsey Young.
Tarzan features a score by Phil Collins, including five songs from the 1999 animated film of the same name — "Two Worlds," "Son of Man," "Trashin' the Camp," "Strangers Like Me" and "You'll Be in My Heart" — as well as nine songs composed for the Broadway production: "Who Better Than Me," "For the First Time," "Everything That I Am," "Waiting for This Moment," "No Other Way," "I Need to Know," "Sure as Sun Turns to Moon," "Different" and "Like No Man I've Ever Seen."
Tony Award winner David Henry Hwang wrote the musical's book based on both the Disney film and the original Edgar Rice Burroughs story "Tarzan of the Apes."
