Tony Award nominee Casey Nicholaw will direct and choreograph the musical that will officially open Nov. 10 and continue through Jan. 2, 2010.
As previously reported, Elf – The Musical has a book by Tony Award winners Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone) and Thomas Meehan (Annie, Hairspray, The Producers). Wedding Singer songwriters Sklar (music) and Beguelin (lyrics) penned the score.
Casting and members of the creative team are expected to be announced shortly. Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures in association with Unique Features present the nine-week run.
Will Ferrell starred in the 2003 film "Elf" about an oversized elf raised in the North Pole who arrives in the United States to find his true identity.
Casey Nicholaw received Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations for his work on The Drowsy Chaperone as well as Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle nominations for Best Choreography for Spamalot. He also directed and choreographed the Encores! productions of Follies and Anyone Can Whistle and choreographed the Encores! production of Bye Bye Birdie and the New York Philharmonic staging of Candide as well as the Carnegie Hall presentation of South Pacific.
