The festival opens with the James Magnuson's work at 4 PM in the Rubenstein Atrium. Mical Whitaker directs the Civil Rights-era theatre piece that retells the story of Adam and Eve.
Later in the evening, the string quartet ETHEL presents ETHEL Fair: The Songwriters on July 28 at 7:30 PM in Damrosch Park. Premiere compositions by Fountains of Wayne songwriter and Cry-Baby writer Adam Schlesinger, Mike Viola, Dayna Kurtz, Juana Molina and Tom Verlaine are featured.
On Aug. 1 at 6 PM in Damrosch Park, Dig: Their Royal Hipness will feature Sandra Bernhard, David Johansen and Melvin Van Peebles performing Shel Silverstein’s Hamlet: The Street Chant.
Original Capeman cast member Rubén Blades will appear as part of the New York premiere of Larry Harlow’s La Raza Latina, A Salsa Suite on Aug. 14 at 7:30 PM in Damrosch Park.
