PHOTO CALL: A Little Night Music Reopens on Broadway With Elaine Stritch and Bernadette Peters

Tony Award winners Elaine Stritch and Bernadette Peters celebrated their opening in the Tony-nominated revival of Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music on Aug. 1.

Stritch and Peters stepped into the roles of Madame Armfeldt and daughter Desiree Armfeldt, succeeding Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury, respectively, on July 13 after a brief hiatus to allow for rehearsal time.

Peters was last on Broadway in a revival of Gypsy, for which she received a 2003 Tony Award nomination for her performance. She is a two time Tony winner for outstanding performances in Song & Dance and Annie Get Your Gun. She has additionally been seen on Broadway in Mack & Mabel, On The Town, Sunday in the Park With George, The Goodbye Girl and Into the Woods.

Stritch received Tony and Emmy Awards for Elaine Stritch at Liberty, which traces a stellar career, which includes roles in composer-lyricist Sondheim's Company plus The Little Foxes, Bus Stop, A Delicate Balance, Sail Away and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
