The concert will raise funds for both The American Cancer Society and the play How My Mother Died Of Cancer, and Other Bedtime Stories, by Chris Kelly, which will be featured in the 2010 New York International Fringe Festival.
The evening will feature the talents of Russell Fischer (Jersey Boys), Taylor Frey (South Pacific, Finian's Rainbow), Rory O'Malley (...Spelling Bee, "Dreamgirls" film), Julie Reiber (Wicked, Brooklyn, All Shook Up) and Tommar Wilson (Wonderland, Hair). Josh Hemphill will host.
How My Mother Died Of Cancer, and Other Bedtime Stories, inspired by Kelly's loss of his mother, "reflects humorously and sometimes uncomfortably on the effects of death on a family. Structured as a play within a play, it depicts a group of loved ones trying to cope with a matriarch's absence, each others' presence, and the complications that ensue when competing versions of the same life story are told," according to press notes. Don't Tell Mama is located in Manhattan at 343 West 46th Street. For tickets to the concert, priced $14 plus a two-drink minimum, call (212) 757-0788 after 4:30 PM daily or visit www.donttellmamanyc.com/reservations.php.
