The production, according to a press statement, is being readied for future productions at several venues across the country. Producer Jill Matichak stated, "We are very pleased by the response of the New York audiences and look forward to seeing this clever and insightful play from a talented new voice performed at theatres in the U.S. and abroad for years to come."
The six-week limited engagement was directed by Chris Smith with choreography by Vince Pesce.
The cast features Lisa Birnbaum, Arnie Burton, Robert Hogan, Ted Koch, Pippa Pearthree, Stephanie Pope Caffey and Ben Roberts.
In Abraham Lincoln's Big, Gay Dance Party, press notes state, "a fourth-grade Christmas pageant in Lincoln's rural Illinois hometown sets off a firestorm of controversy when it calls into question Honest Abe's sexuality. A thought-provoking, laugh-out-loud funny, and uniquely American story unfolds, offering surprises at every turn. Each of the three acts lets the audience see the story from a different character's viewpoint – and at each performance the audience decides in which order the acts are performed, creating a Rubik's Cube-like theatrical event."
Producers are BlueRare Productions in association with Aaron Glick and Deborah Taylor.
Tickets are priced $51.25 and $66.25 for premium seats ($20 student rush) and are on sale now at www.Telecharge.com or by calling (212) 239-6200.
