Mrs. Warren's Profession, the controversial 1894 George Bernard Shaw work, opened for business on Broadway Sept. 3. Tony Award winner Cherry Jones plays the lady in question.



Tony Award winner Doug Hughes reunites with his Doubt star Jones ("24," The Heiress) to bring the play to 21st century crowds. Opening night at the American Airlines Theatre is Oct. 3.

The show "tells the story of Kitty Warren (Jones), a mother who makes a terrible sacrifice for her daughter Vivie's (Hawkins) independence. The clash of these two strong-willed but culturally constrained women is the spark that ignites the ironic wit of one of Shaw's greatest plays."
