The upcoming intensive will meet Fridays from 6 to 9 PM. The first two-week course, for beginners, will take place Oct. 1 and 8 with the second two-week course, for experienced puppeteers, occurring Oct. 15 and 22.
Topics to be covered include: fundamentals, one-on-one training, group scene work, musical performances, special guests, and viewings of puppetry classics. As part of the class, students will attend a performance of John Tartaglia's Imaginocean and participate in a private backstage tour with Tartaglia to meet cast members who will share their experiences about working in puppetry.
Tartaglia created, produces and wrote John Tartaglia's ImaginOcean, which is currently playing at New World Stages. A Tony Award nominee for his performance in Avenue Q, he has also appeared on Broadway in Shrek and Beauty and the Beast, and on television in "Sesame Street" and "Johnny and the Sprites," also creating and producing the latter. Tartaglia first offered the upcoming course in 2005.
