Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong made his Broadway debut the evening of Sept. 28 when he joined the cast of American Idiot, stepping into the role of the seductive drug dealer St. Jimmy for a limited one-week engagement through Oct. 3.

Armstrong, who composed and co-authored the work, is the lead singer of the multiple Grammy Award-winning band whose 2004 album of the same name serves as the basis for the musical.

It was announced on Sept. 26 that Armstrong would perform the week-long stint in the show before the band embarks on a South American concert tour. Original St. Jimmy, Tony Vincent, will return to the role Oct. 12.
