Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, who penned the libretto for the Broadway musical, will also write the screenplay, according to deadline.com.
"Jersey Boys is one of the most electrifying stage shows any of us has ever seen and it has all the ingredients to become a big commercial hit movie," King told deadline.com. "So to now be collaborating with the whole team, Frankie, Bob, Marshall and Rick, to bring that magic to the big screen is just a wonderful dream come true."
Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio added in a statement, "We are extremely excited about the passion and commitment expressed by GK Films to take Jersey Boys to another level. Graham King has been a believer from day one. We are in good hands."
Jersey Boys, according to press notes for the Broadway musical, is "the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. It's a journey of how a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide — all before they were 30."
Jersey Boys premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse in October 2004 before arriving in November 2005 at Broadway's August Wilson Theatre. The Broadway production garnered four Tony Awards: for original stars John Lloyd Young and Christian Hoff; lighting designer Howell Binkley; and for Best Musical.
Jersey Boys is also currently playing in Las Vegas, London, Australia and in cities across the U.S. on a national tour.
The award-winning production features music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe and a book by Brickman and Elice.
