Tony Award-winning director Joe Mantello took on the central role of Ned Weeks in the one night only performance of Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart. The performance was produced by Daryl Roth and benefited both The Actors Fund and Friends in Deed.
Joel Grey takes a turn as director of the piece after having starred in the original production of The Normal Heart at The Public Theater, in which he played Ned Weeks.
The Normal Heart focuses on "the terrifying early years of the AIDS epidemic in New York and the criminal silence of official America in dealing with it."
