Arielle Jacobs, Fresh From In the Heights Tour, Makes Her Broadway Debut as "Nina"

Arielle Jacobs makes her Broadway debut as Nina Rosario, taking over the role in the 2008 Tony and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical, on Nov. 15. She replaces "American Idol" star Jordin Sparks, who exited the production on Nov. 14.

As previously announced, In the Heights will play its final Broadway performance Jan. 9, 2011, at 7 PM, with Tony Award winner Lin-Manuel Miranda re-joining the cast starting Dec. 25 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Original cast members Christopher Jackson and Seth Stewart will also return to the show on Dec. 20 and Dec. 6, respectively.

Jacobs comes directly from playing Nina in the national tour of In the Heights. She has also played Gabriella in the national tour of High School Musical, and appeared in workshops for the musicals Mask, GoGo Beach and It Shoulda Been You. She created the eco-website www.HelpHealTheEarth.com; and is a published author in holistic Journey Magazine and WOMAN.ca.

In the Heights is the winner of four 2008 Tony Awards and has a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, is conceived by Lin-Manuel Miranda, has music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and is directed by Thomas Kail. Zachary Dietz is music director.



In the Heights is about "a vibrant and tight-knit community at the top of the island of Manhattan," where "the music pulses with the hopes and dreams of three generations as they struggle to forge an identity in a neighborhood on the brink of transition."
