Alan Bowne's Beirut, which tells a love story haunted by a mysterious disease, will be revived at The Lion at Theatre Row Jan. 5-22, 2011. An official opening is set for Jan. 8.

The Zoppa Brothers, who are triplets, will direct the production, which will feature Meital Dohan, Sammi Rotibi and Tony Ray Rossi.

According to press notes, Bowne's 1987 play "is the story of a Brooklyn man quarantined in the Lower East Side after being tested positive for a deadly, nameless virus. His girlfriend, who has not been infected, makes the dangerous journey across the lines to save him." The play is thought to be inspired by the late Bowne's experiences coping with AIDS.

The Lion is located at 410 West 42nd Street. For tickets, call (212) 239-6200 or visit telecharge.com.
