LCT's Women on the Verge and Free Man of Color Will Not Extend

Lincoln Center Theater's world-premiere productions of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown and A Free Man of Color will not extend their Broadway runs.

Both Women on the Verge and Free Man of Color, which were billed as limited engagements, will end their runs as scheduled, according to representatives for LCT.

Women on the Verge, which stars Sherie Rene Scott, Patti LuPone, Laura Benanti and Brian Stokes Mitchell, has a score by Tony-nominated Dirty Rotten Scoundrels collaborators David Yazbek (music and lyrics) and Jeffrey Lane (book).

Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher helmed the musical adaptation of Pedro Almodóvar's Oscar-nominated 1988 film, which opened on Broadway Nov. 4 and will conclude its limited run Jan. 23, 2011, at the Belasco Theatre.

A Free Man of Color, the epic drama from Tony-winning playwright John Guare, plays LCT's Vivian Beaumont stage. Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe directed the ambitious work, which officially opened Nov. 18 and will end its limited run Jan. 9, 2011.

Tony Award winner Jeffrey Wright, Mos, John McMartin and Veanne Cox star in the globe-hopping play, anchored in New Orleans following the Haitian slave revolts, when its large population of Free People of Color inhabited a city that was more European than American in the early 17th century.
