Birdland Theatre with Talk Is Free Theatre bring the Dora winner for Outstanding Production of a Musical back to The Theatre Centre. Adam Brazier directs the conceptual show that places assassins (or would-be assassins) of American presidents in a theatrical landscape. The libretto is by John Weidman, with music and lyrics by Sondheim.
Returning is Dora-nominated Paul McQuillan as John Wilkes Booth, along with original cast members Graham Abbey, Jay Davis, Martin Julien, Steve Ross, Christopher Stanton, Jonathan Tan, Alicia Toner and Geoffrey Tyler. Janet Porter takes over the role of Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme. Joining them are Alex Fiddes as Czolgosz, Kevin Dennis as Zangara, Whitney Ross Barris as Emma Goldman and Lisa Horner as Sara Jane Moore.
Rounding out the artistic team are musical director Reza Jacobs, set designer Beth Kates and lighting designer Gareth Crew.
Birdland Theatre is a Toronto-based theatre company founded in 2004 by artistic director Zorana Kydd. Talk Is Free Theatre is an artist-driven, award winning theatre company based in Barrie, ON. The company was founded in 2003 by artistic producer Arkady Spivak and has produced nearly 50 productions concentrating largely on new and neglected work.
