He will be joined by soap star Eileen Fulton, who will portray Mrs. Higgins in the classic musical that runs July 7-17 in the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre.
My Fair Lady is based on George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion and features a book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. The original Broadway production opened on March 15, 1956, ran for over six years and won nine Tony Awards, including one for Best Musical. The score contains such Broadway classics as "I Could Have Danced All Night," "On the Street Where You Live," "Wouldn't It Be Loverly?" and "Get Me to the Church on Time."
Terrence Mann received Tony nominations for his work in Les Misérables and Beauty and the Beast and has also appeared on Broadway in Barnum, Rags, Cats, Jerome Robbins' Broadway, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Getting Away with Murder and The Rocky Horror Show.
Connecticut Repertory Theatre will open its 2011 Nutmeg Summer Series with Guys and Dolls, running June 2-12. Seussical, a musical based on the most famous books of Dr. Seuss, runs June 16-26 in the Nafe Katter Theatre (also located on the Storrs campus).
