Winners of the 2008 HOLA Awards, which honor "the best of Latino theatre in New York," were announced Aug. 7.

Presented by The Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA), the 2008 HOLA Awards Gala Benefit will be held Sept. 15 at The Players. The evening will begin at 6:30 PM with a tapas reception followed by the 8 PM awards ceremony.

This year's special award winners include John Ortiz (HOLA José Ferrer Tespis Award), Thalía (HOLA Ilka Award), Eduardo Machado (Raúl Juliá HOLA Founders Award), Mario Bósquez (HOLA Excellence in Media Award) and Ricardo Barber (HOLA Lifetime Achievement Award).
