David Rimmer's 9/11 Drama New York to Feature Polly Adams, Elaine Bromka and More

David Rimmer's New York, which investigates the emotional trauma of people affected by the events of 9/11, will receive a limited New York run in honor of the tenth anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center.

The Group Theatre is staging the five-performance equity showcase that will run Sept. 8-11 at the Hudson Guild Theater. Playwright Rimmer will direct. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the organization September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows.

The cast will feature Polly Adams (Lost in Yonkers), Elaine Bromka (The Rose Tattoo), Catherine Hyland (Harold and Maude), Catherine Kellner (The Iceman Cometh), Megan Berg, Steven Bidwell, Bob Ferreira, Michelangelo Milano, Kathleen Peirce, Skyler Pinkerton, Scott Price, Jen Ryan, Thomas Tinelli, Kaylee Torres and Jennifer Williams.


New York, a 15 character, 16 scene play, follows a handful of individuals who recount their heartbreak, strength and resilience to a psychiatrist in the days following 9/11.

Rimmer's play premiered in 2002 and has subsequently been performed across the country and around the world. His play Album was a Pulitzer Prize finalist. He is also the author of the full-length plays Yankee Wives, Nobody Dies, The Reunion Guy, as well as the short plays Miss Subways Meets the Sex Machine, Stray Bullets, Greatest Show on Earth, The Painted Name and The Evening News.
