Randy Graff, Mary Bacon and More Will Explore Motherhood Out Loud Off-Broadway

Tony Award winner Randy Graff, Mary Bacon, James Lecesne and Saidah Arrika Ekulona have been cast in the Primary Stages production of Motherhood Out Loud, which will have its New York premiere beginning Sept. 20 Off-Broadway.

Lisa Peterson, who has been developing the piece with over a dozen writers the past few seasons, will direct the Off-Broadway run that will officially open Oct. 4 for a run through Oct. 29 at 59E59 Theaters.

Motherhood Out Loud has contributions from Leslie Ayvazian, David Cale, Jessica Goldberg, Beth Henley, Lameece Issaq, Claire LaZebnik, Lisa Loomer, Michele Lowe, Marco Pennette, Theresa Rebeck, Luanne Rice, Annie Weisman and Cheryl L. West.

Graff (City of Angels, Les Miserables, Fiddler on the Roof) and Ekulona (Well, The Thugs) appeared in a 2009 developmental run of Motherhood at the Bay Street Theatre. Lecesne (Boys in the Band) was part of the Hartford Stage premiere and recent Geffen Playhouse run (under the title In Mother Words). Bacon (Rock 'n' Roll, Happy Now?) is new to the production.

Utterly unpredictable, Motherhood Out Loud shatters traditional notions about parenthood, unveils its inherent comedy and celebrates the deeply personal truths that span and unite generations. Motherhood Out Loud reveals with illuminating insight the humor, raw emotions and rocky roads we experience in life."

The design team includes Rachel Hauk (set design), David C. Woolard (costume design), Christopher Kuhl (lighting design), Jill B.C. DuBoff (sound design), Jan Hartley (projection design) and Emily Hubley (animation).
