By close, the new musical will have played 33 preview and 151 regular performances.
"My producing partners and I are honored to have worked with this exceptional cast who have made a night in the theatre a seismic experience for over one hundred thousand theatregoers at the Broadhurst Theatre,” producer Gregg Maday said in a statement. "We would like to give heartfelt thanks to our amazing audiences who are on their feet dancing with us at every performance."
Baby It’s You!, according to production notes, is "inspired by the true story of Florence Greenberg, the woman who changed the recording world forever when she discovered The Shirelles and created Scepter Records, becoming the music industry’s first female powerhouse." The musical, which stars Tony Award winner Beth Leavel as Greenberg, was conceived by Floyd Mutrux, directed by Mutrux and Sheldon Epps, and written by Tony-nominated book writers Mutrux and Colin Escott.
The new musical is produced by Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and American Pop Anthology in association with Universal Music Group and Pasadena Playhouse, with Richard Perry, Jonathan Sanger and Artie Ripp as Consulting Producers for American Pop Anthology.
