King Lear cast member Bill Irwin joined Anne Hathaway, David Brooks, Dr. Mary Schmidt Campell, Damian Woetzel and Public artistic director Oskar Eustis for the Public Theater's Nov. 21 discussion "Does Culture Make Us Who We Are?"



The 8 PM event, which coincides with the Public production of King Lear, focused on arts and our democracy.

Additional Public Forum events include Stephen Sondheim and Tony Kushner, who will reunite for a Jan. 17, 2012, discussion at the Skirball Center that will focus on Sondheim's second installment of his memoir and lyric anthology, "Look, I Made a Hat," which is due Nov. 22. Rocco Landesman will moderate.
