Golden Globe nominee Christina Ricci, the film actress known for "The Addams Family" and "The Opposite of Sex," and TV's "Pan Am," will join two-time Tony Award winner Bebe Neuwirth in Classic Stage Company's upcoming production of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Directed by Tony Speciale, the classic comedy-fantasy will begin performances March 28 and play a limited engagement through May 6 at CSC's Off-Broadway home on 13th Street.
Neuwirth (The Addams Family, Chicago, Sweet Charity, Damn Yankees) will play the role of Titania, queen of the fairies, and Ricci will play Hermia. Additional casting will be announced early in the new year.
Ricci made her Broadway debut last season in Donald Margulies' Tony-nominated Time Stands Still.
Midsummer tickets will go on sale to the general public Feb. 6. CSC is currently presenting the highly-acclaimed, sold-out production of Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard (through Jan. 8 only) and will next present Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham in Bertolt Brecht's Galileo, directed by Brian Kulick, beginning performances Feb. 1.
Ricci will co-star in Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod's film adaptation of Guy de Maupassant's short story "Bel Ami" opposite Robert Pattinson, Kristin Scott Thomas and Uma Thurman in 2012.
