Donald Byrd, a Tony nominee for his choreography for the Broadway musical The Color Purple, choreographs the production, which also includes members of his Spectrum Dance Theatre. Peter Rothstein directs the classic musical, which will run through March 4.
Ankrim stars as Curly, opposite Zorn as Laurie and Scatliffe as Jud. The cast also includes Seattle veteran Anne Allgood as Aunt Eller, Kirsten deLohr Helland as Ado Annie, Matt Owen as Will Parker and Daniel C. Levine as Ali Hakim.
Completing the cast are Allen Fitzpatrick, David Pichette, Blaine Boyd, Jared Michael Brown, Jeanette D'Armand, Zane Camino, Sarah Rose Davis, Kevin Douglass, Mary Jo Dugaw, Eric Esteb, Kassandra Haddock, Mallory King, Jonathan Paul Lee, Sonya Meyer, Christie Murphy, Daniel Oakden, Ben Sasnett, and Carolyn Willems Van Dijk, with Josh Spell and Kara Walsh featured in the dream ballet as Curly and Laurey.
The children's ensemble includes Nicholas Hayes, Cameron Washington and DeChé Washington.
The design team includes Matthew Smucker (set design), Lynda L. Salsbury (costume design), Tom Sturge (lighting design), Ken Travis (sound design), Mary Pyanowski (hair/makeup design) and Geoffrey Aim (fight choreography). The production will use Robert Russell Bennett's original orchestrations.
Oklahoma!, the first collaboration between Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, was originally titled Away We Go. During out-of-town tryouts, the addition of the song "Oklahoma!" proved so rousing, it became the title of the musical as well.
